An important part of our own animal feed is soybeans. These are absolutely necessary, especially as a protein supplier. However, these previously had to be imported from afar. In order to protect the environment, Ullrichs Putenhof has now successfully grown soybeans in the Kraichgau in a first pilot project. In this way, we protect the environment in two respects: Worldwide, a large area of primeval forest is cleared every year to grow soybeans. In this way, we can ensure that no primeval forests have to be cleared for our feed and that very little energy has to be spent on transport.
There is also a third positive aspect. Because your and our health is also very important to us. Since almost all agricultural components of our turkey feed come from controlled own cultivation, we now know exactly what our turkeys get to feed and above all that it has not been genetically modified. Even if domestic soybean cultivation is unfortunately more expensive, it is worth it to us.
